GREENPORT, LONG ISLAND

A weekend away in Long Island has forever been the perfect escape for city dwellers looking to escape the New York pandemonium for a few nights. With my year anniversary of being a New Yorker approaching, my time had come and I decided to venture out to claim some fresh air for my tired lungs. I can see now why this quickly becomes a recurring activity for New Yorkers.

With a recommendation from a friend and a few hours on the Long Island Rail Road, we found ourselves in the picturesque town of Greenport, NY. Arriving after dark meant waking up to a fairytale village and the smell of hot coffee travelling up the staircase of our charming B&B. If your planning on visiting Greenport, I highly recommend a stay in The Morning Glory Bed & Breakfast, a beautifully renovated 19th century home that takes breakfast as serious as any other activity around. Following an epic breakfast of apple pancakes and perfectly scrambled farm fresh eggs, we made our way into the town to do a bit of exploring. With everything in walking distance, we moseyed our way down the main street popping into vintage bric-a-brac stores, seaside cafes and tried not to overfill our bags as much as our bellies. Named as “one of the 11 prettiest towns and villages in America”, I was satisfied with my camera in one hand and a coffee in the other, still full from this mornings breakfast.
